Artist Statement:
Paul Vladuchick is an American photographer, currently active in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and the surrounding area. His primary project is imaging the beautiful and dynamic city of Pittsburgh.
He is originally from the Detroit area of Michigan and moved to Western Pennsylvania after college where he studied Mechanical Engineering.
Largely self-taught (thanks to the local public library and supportive parents), everything was learned through direct experimentation in either subjects and/or photographic techniques. This spirit of experimentation is still very evident in his work today with the frequent use of multi-exposures, long shutter speeds, and often, technically challenging subjects.
“Sometimes the experiment works, and the image is wonderful. Most of the time it does not. That’s OK. It’s frustrating, but that’s part of the process of learning.” Paul and his wife currently reside in Cranberry Township.
