Membership Program

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council exists to build a more resourced, connected, and informed arts sector, empowering artists and arts organizations throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania.

We're the only organization in this region working across the entire arts ecosystem — and that means all of it, every discipline, every career stage, every budget size.

No matter what kind of creative work you do, where you are in your career, or the size of your organization — you belong here, and we're here to support you.

We do that work as an information hub, a convener, a storyteller, and an advocate. And we do it because this field, your field, is worth taking a stance for.

Why Membership Matters

Membership is not a transaction. It is an investment in something larger than any one person, organization, or discipline.

When you become a member, you are joining a collective body of individuals and organizations that represent the breadth and depth of the arts ecosystem in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Your membership helps us demonstrate the scale and impact of our field to policymakers, funders, and civic leaders, and it gives us the standing to advocate on your behalf with credibility and collective force.

The more members we represent, the louder that voice becomes.

This work requires resources. But more than that, it requires a community of people who believe it is worth doing. Membership says: I am part of this ecosystem, and I want to help sustain it.

Our Gratitude

As a thank you for your support, members receive access to the following benefits.

Personal support and guidance: Up to 3 one-on-one Strategy Sessions with Arts Council staff each year. This is a chance to think through challenges, opportunities, or questions specific to your practice or career. Members can also submit requests for pro bono support from our network of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and Volunteer Business Professionals.

Stay informed and connected: A subscription to our monthly Member Newsletter, keeping you up to date on what the Arts Council is working on, what's happening in the field, and timely information relevant to you.

Visibility for your work: Priority for share-outs at our monthly Creative Hive networking convening, as well as opportunities to be featured in member spotlights across Arts Council communications platforms.

Advocacy and civic engagement: A complimentary ticket to every Policy and Action Roundtable, our biannual convenings that bring artists and cultural workers into direct dialogue with elected officials, civic leaders, and funders. Members also receive an invitation to join the Arts Council when we meet with legislators representing your community, and a voice in shaping the advocacy priorities we carry into those rooms.

Savings on creative resources: Member discounts at a network of partner spaces and services, including Little Giant Studio, Benvenuti Arts, PGH Print Shop, Bright Archives, ProtoHaven, and Radiant Hall.

Organization members receive all of the above benefits, as well as:

Visibility for your organization: Priority placement of your events in our Weekly Events Roundups and Artsburgh, our weekly newsletter distributed to 12,000+ recipients, as well as priority placement of your open positions or calls to artists in our monthly Jobs & Opportunities Roundups on Instagram. Members also receive half-price rates on sponsored advertising in the Artsburgh weekly newsletter.

Financial insight: A Personalized Financial Indicator Dashboard that draws on your organization's publicly filed 990 data to give you a clearer picture of your financial health over time, and how your organization compares to peers in the field. (Available only to nonprofits that file a 990.)

A Note on Where We Are

Our Membership Program is currently in a pilot phase. We started onboarding a small group of early adopters in August 2025, who have helped us test and refine how the program works. We’ve continued to onboard new members each month to responsibly pressure test our systems and processes before we open fully in July 2026.

If you're ready to be part of this from the beginning, and to help us build something that truly serves this field, we'd love to welcome you.
