Art on the Walls opens new exhibit in Downtown Pittsburgh

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council announces a new Art on the Walls exhibit, featuring the work of six regional artists inside the new offices of Turner Construction in Downtown Pittsburgh.

The exhibition includes the work of Pittsburgh-based sculptors Anders Anderson and Dan Droz, photographer Richard Kelly, and painters Tim Engelhardt, Claire Hardy, and Lisa Marie Jakab.

"We're so grateful that Turner Construction has included six regional Art on the Walls artists as part of their beautiful new office space in Downtown Pittsburgh," says Manager of Art on the Walls Erin O'Neill. "The artwork looks absolutely beautiful, and I know all of the artists greatly appreciate their team's commitment to supporting local art."

Art on the Walls, which launched in 2010 and has since garnered more than $65,000 in art sales, is a professional development program of the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council that brings the work of regional artists to unconventional spaces throughout the Greater Pittsburgh region. In addition to Turner Construction, Art on the Walls also has exhibits in the lobby of Eleven Stanwix, the offices of the Allegheny Conference, and the Dormont Municipal Building.

All artwork displayed through Art on the Walls is for sale, with artists receiving 80% of each purchase.

Turner Construction’s Art on the Walls exhibit includes 36 works of art throughout its new offices in the U.S. Steel Building, also known as the USX Tower, a building the company also constructed in 1970. Their Grant Street office is the first of the organization’s 46 national offices to bring in the work of regional artists.

Exhibiting artists were chosen by a selection team including representatives from Turner Construction who say they’re “excited to enliven their new office in the U.S. Steel Tower with artwork created by regional artists to convey the history and contemporary vibrancy of the Pittsburgh region.”

The exhibit, which is visible to Turner’s employees and guests throughout the week and open to the public through appointments only by contacting Manager of Art on the Walls Erin O'Neill at eoneill@pittsburghartscouncil.org, will remain open through August 2024.
