Bio

Sushma Kola, MD, is a movement disorders neurologist and Director of Integrative Neurosciences at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA. She earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, completed her neurology residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and pursued dual fellowships in Movement Disorders and Integrative Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Kola specializes in integrated care models and the development of multidisciplinary clinics for Parkinson’s disease and related disorders. Her work focuses on combining conventional treatments with evidence-based complementary therapies to improve quality of life. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, written book chapters, and presented her research nationally and internationally.

Dr. Kola currently serves as Vice Chair of NeuroHealth and Integrative Neurology for the American Academy of Neurology and is a member of the Movement Disorders Society Wellness Steering Committee. She is also a clinician advisor for the Parkinson’s Foundation and The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

With a professional background in dance, including formal training in Indian and Latin styles, competitive performance, and experience as a collegiate dance team captain, Dr. Kola integrates her clinical expertise with movement-based therapies. She is among the first physicians in the U.S. to combine fellowship training in movement disorders and integrative medicine with dance to teach Dance for Parkinson’s classes.
