Morgan (she/her) was born in Pittsburgh and grew up in rural West Virginia. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in music from Belmont University, Morgan worked in music and performing arts education for nearly 10 years in the Nashville and Denver metro areas. Several of her students went on to study music and theatre at top national and international programs, and many are performing professionally. She was also granted the designation of “Lead Teacher” at Denver School of Science and Technology in 2019 for her consistently high student results and contributions to school culture. In 2019, Morgan returned to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon University and received her Master of Arts Management degree from CMU’s Heinz College in 2021. During her time at CMU, she interned for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, League of American Orchestras, and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council. She then joined the Arts Council as its Research and Advocacy Associate in the spring of 2021.
Stemming from her experience in music education, Morgan continues to champion the expansion of equitable access to and representation in the arts. She is passionate about using data and human-centered research to better understand and address the field’s complex challenges and to advocate for the role of arts and culture in building just, vibrant societies.
