VisitPITTSBURGH Exhibits Artworks by Eight Pittsburgh Artists In Its Offices
Pittsburgh – May 3, 2019 – The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council’s Art on the Walls program opened its latest exhibit of artwork by regional artists in VisitPITTSBURGH ‘s downtown offices yesterday. This new collection features 30 artworks ranging from painting, photography, and mixed media by eight artists, and each piece is available for sale.
The artwork was selected by an art selection committee from VisitPITTSBURGH as part of GPAC’s Art on the Walls program. Featured artists include Robert Bowden, Jolene Dames, James Dames, Tim Englehardt, Brandon Garner, Kim McAninch, Arindam Sen and Susan Sparks.
“Working with the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council for the Art on the Walls program has allowed us to authentically represent the Pittsburgh arts community that we love,” said Craig Davis, president and CEO of VisitPITTSBURGH. “We chose art that tells the Pittsburgh story, and we take pride in the opportunity to share this with our staff, visitors and clients.”
A private reception at VisitPITTSBURGH’s offices celebrated the artists and their work, welcoming the artists, and GPAC and VisitPITTSBURGH board, staff and special guests.
“VisitPITTSBURGH’s commitment to exhibiting artwork, collecting art and supporting Pittsburgh-area artists truly highlights the value of Pittsburgh’s arts and culture community to our travel and tourism industry,” said Mitch Swain, CEO of the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, who was recently elected honorary board member at VisitPITTSBURGH during its Annual Meeting in March.
The Art on the Walls program is an exhibition program for greater Pittsburgh visual artists, displaying quality art in office spaces and encouraging patrons and corporations to purchase artwork for their collections. To date, the Art on the Walls program has sold more than $56,000 in artworks to corporations, individuals and organizations, supporting the careers of our region's artists. Art on the Walls currently exhibits in City of Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto’s offices, the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council.
