Veronica Morgan-Lee, Ph.D. Becomes Chair of Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council Board of Directors


Pittsburgh - August 13, 2021 – The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council has appointed Dr. Veronica Morgan-Lee, director of fund development at Hill Dance Academy Theatre (HDAT), as its new Chair of its Board of Directors. Dr. Morgan-Lee has been a member of the Arts Council's board of directors since 2014 and previously served as board secretary.

"The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council's programs and services have been a strong supporter of Hill Dance Academy Theatre for more than 15 years, and serving as a board member and now board chair is one way that I can give back to the organization," explained Dr. Morgan-Lee. "The work of the Arts Council is critical to advancing and sustaining a thriving arts community in Pittsburgh and I am happy to support the mission, vision and values of the Council in any and all ways that I can."

Dr. Morgan-Lee has worked with HDAT since 2005 and has decades of nonprofit consulting experience with expertise in racial equity, mission and vision development, governance, leadership, finances, fund development, higher education, cultural arts, historical traditions, and professional and organizational development.

"Veronica is the right person to serve as the Arts Council's board chair at this important time.," explained Mitch Swain, CEO of the Arts Council. "She has been a trusted adviser to me and many others in the arts community for several years. We will all benefit from her experience and leadership. I look forward to working closely with her and appreciate her willingness to serve."

In addition to her work with the Arts Council and HDAT, Dr. Morgan-Lee served as the chair of the Afro-American Music Institute's (AAMI) board of directors and continues to serve as a board member and supporter for nearly 30 years. Dr. Morgan-Lee earned her doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
