Nominate a member of the Southwest PA arts community to guide the Arts Council’s next round of racial equity in arts funding research!

Collaboration is key in making change. That’s why the Arts Council is seeking your nominations for the Learning and Leadership Committee that will guide the design, analysis, and reporting of its upcoming racial equity in arts funding research.

This year’s project, which is a 5-year-follow up to the 2018 Racial Equity and Arts Funding in Southwest Pennsylvania report, will explore if, how, and in what ways arts grantmaking in Greater Pittsburgh has progressed toward distributive justice. We’ll reassess racial equity in grant amounts and grant dollars distributed to arts organizations. We’ll also gather data on policies, practices, and power structures within funding organizations and dig into their impacts on funding outcomes.

Through the month of February 2023, members of the Southwest Pennsylvania arts, culture, and funding communities can submit their nominations for the committee that will steer this work. The Arts Council believes that engaging voices representing the diverse array of experiences, identities, and roles within the Southwest Pennsylvania arts sector is crucial to this project's thoughtfulness, effectiveness, and validity. We welcome all nominations, but nominees must reside in Southwest Pennsylvania to be selected. The Arts Council commits to convening a committee that is composed of majority self-identified Black, Indigenous, and people of color representation.

Committee participation will occur between Summer 2023 and Winter 2024. Committee members who are not employed by funding organizations will receive a stipend for their participation.

Are you interested in participating in the next Learning and Leadership Committee? Do you know someone who would be perfect for this work? Use this form to submit your nomination by February 28, 2023.
