PEAL exists to provide networking, resources, and professional development opportunities to emerging arts managers and artists in the Pittsburgh area. This peer group is an entirely volunteer-run organization, spearheaded by a steering committee.
Join PEAL Today
We are passionate about fostering cross-medium connections and arts community development. In addition, PEAL distributes an email newsletter featuring PEAL updates, regional job postings, events of interest to the PEAL community, and special topics. You can sign up for the PEAL newsletter by selecting "Pittsburgh Emerging Arts Leaders" on our newsletter sign-up page.
PEAL is a project of the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and an affiliate of Americans for the Arts’ Emerging Arts Leader Network.
We need your artwork!
So much is in store for 2023. We want to spread the word and share PEAL with even more new members… via postcards! And what better way to design these postcards than to feature local artists?
If you would like to participate in this effort, submit a piece of artwork to us that meets the following requirements:
- Measures 4” by 6”
- Includes the text, “Pittsburgh Emerging Arts Leaders” in the design.
- Features your interpretation of a design that feels “energetic,” “dynamic,” or “emerging.”
Your submission can be a previously produced work that has been modified.
All submissions will be entered into a raffle to win two date-night passes to Touchstone Center for Craft, and will be displayed digitally on our website and social media with artist credit. (We don’t want any of your work to go unseen!) The winning submission, selected by the Pittsburgh Emerging Arts Leaders Steering Committee, will receive $200 in return for the use of their work.
Submit your artwork via this Google Form. The deadline to submit a postcard is midnight on Sunday, January 15, 2023. All participants will be notified about developments within two weeks of submission.
What’s New
Following a brief recess in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic, PEAL returns to address the novel needs of emerging arts leaders in the aftermath of industry-wide shutdowns and career disruptions. This year, PEAL focuses on safe, socially distanced events and opportunities sparking revolutionary discussion about unfolding trends and topics. If you have an interest in serving on the Steering Committee, please email the Arts Council’s PEAL liaison, Morgan Kasprowicz, at mkasprowicz@pittsburghartscouncil.org.
On April 15, 2021, a Pittsburgh Emerging Arts Leaders Town Hall was held to collect feedback from past and prospective members. You can watch the recording here, and catch up on the notes from this event and its accompanying survey in this PDF document.
