Audio description is a necessary practice central to all artforms. Workshop attendees, whether they are artists or administrators at arts organizations, will learn the basics of audio description, including:

  • Why audio description is a necessity.

  • Insights into blind and vision-impaired culture.

  • Audio description guidelines, techniques, and best practices.

  • How to design audio description that effectively meets the needs of blind and vision-impaired audiences.

Participants will also better understand blind and low-vision cultures and how to design audio description that effectively meets the needs of these audiences. With a growing need for audio describers nationwide, these workshops will also enable participants to consider audio description as a potential career.

This workshop is a two-day event, with the first day focused on basic principles, and the second day focused on the aspects of audio description as a career. All registrants will receive a follow-up guide to enhance their skills, and access to a recording of both event days.
