Job Overview 

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council is currently seeking a creative and detail-oriented communications and marketing professional. The ideal person for this position has a demonstrated passion for social media and elevating the region’s arts and culture sector, supported with strong writing and content creation skills. 

 

What You’ll Be Working On 

The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to help grow the Arts Council’s storytelling efforts for the arts community. The following is a representative list of job responsibilities:

  • Social Media Coordination: Create and coordinate social media content, analyze performance metrics, and engage with followers to foster community

  • Written Content Creation: Develop and write engaging content for various platforms, including press releases, newsletters, website updates, blogs, and social media posts

  • Organizational/Event Promotion: Support the development and implementation of communication strategies for public-facing Arts Council events, initiatives, and services

  • Administrative Support: Maintain communication calendars, track project timelines, and assist with budget management for communication initiatives 

     

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

The person in this role should bring the following to the team: 

  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with proven experience writing for various mediums, including social media, print, digital, email, and/or blogs

  • Experience in social media and content creation for an organization, including experience using a social media management tool, such as Buffer or Hootsuite

  • Basic graphic design skills, with a proficiency in Canva and/or Adobe Photoshop and InDesign

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with an ability to hit deadlines and multi-task on simultaneous projects

  • An unwavering commitment to equity and inclusion and ongoing learning as it relates to DEAIB

  • At least 2-3 years of solid marketing and communications experience for an organization 

 

Also nice to have for this position:

Experience with Bloomerang or other CRM software; Knowledge of digital advertising (Google, Meta, etc.) and SEO; Experience interviewing subjects for articles and/or blog profiles; and a knowledge and appreciation of the region’s arts and culture community.

Benefits   

This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Occasional weekend and evening work may be necessary. Salary is posted at $47,000-$52,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance. Unlimited paid time off and thirteen (13) holidays. The Arts Council offers a Simple IRA with company match.      

 

Primarily Remote Workplace    

Work for this position primarily occurs remotely, with required in-person staff meetings once a week. It is important for employees to have access to reliable transportation, whether that be a personal vehicle or consistent access to public transportation. Employees are provided an organization-issued laptop for the duration of employment. When working remotely, you are expected to maintain a high-speed Internet connection supporting collaborative work, such as Zoom meetings. All full-time staff members receive a monthly stipend to support remote work.

Following the submission of these materials, applicants will also be asked to submit a separate, anonymous demographics survey.   

 

The Arts Council will begin to review applications in early January 2025.
