Art on the Walls

Art on the Walls is a professional development program for emerging and mid-career visual artists.

Through the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council's Art on the Walls program, a group of artists are selected by a committee to display their work in non-traditional exhibition spaces, with a focus on corporate environments and municipal offices. On average, exhibitions range 6-12 months in duration.

Participating artists obtain first-hand knowledge and experience pertaining to:

• Presenting and speaking about their work
• Art selection processes
• Professional networking
• Building a client base and managing relationships
• Reviewing and executing contracts

All work on exhibit is available for sale, with artists receiving 80% of each purchase. To date, this program has provided more than $65,000 in income to artists living and working in the region.

By working with corporate and government hosts as presenting partners, the Arts Council facilitates direct relationships with working artists. Our approach equips partners with opportunities to witness and experience the value and impact delivered by both art and artists. Hosting partners also benefit because their work environments are enhanced through the exhibition of work that is professionally curated and displayed.
