The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council is committed to promoting health and wellness throughout our region's arts community. In addition to the health coverage we are currently offering, the Arts Council has gathered the following list of resources to help you stay healthy.

Wellness Resources - The following resources will help you to remain safe will working in your creative medium. If you know of a resource that you think should be on this list, please let us know.
   
  Arts Crafts and Theater Safety -ACTS is a not-for-profit corporation that provides health, safety, industrial hygiene, technical services and safety publications to the arts, crafts, museums and theater communities. They also publish short Datasheets (from 1 to 10 pages) on over 60 different technical subjects related to health and safety in art and theater
 
  Be Well! Pittsburgh - Be Well Pittsburgh! collaborates with health care consumers, health care providers, social service providers and community organizations to improve uninsured Pittsburghers' awareness of and access to health care resources.
 
  Health and Safety in the Visual Arts - A searchable database of health & safety information for artists broken down by art medium. This site also includes information on studio safety and suggested reading. Site sponsored by the City of Tucson's Environmental Management Division through an Environmental Justice Grant.
 
  UIC Online safety in the Arts Library - A vast resource of links to health and safety resources for the arts, gathered by the University of Illinois at Chicago

Medical Care Options - The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council's HM Care Advantage plan is a limited medical benefits plan designed to provide a low-cost health coverage option for the local arts community. Other options include:
  CVS Pharmacy - Some local CVS Pharmacies offer "MinuteClinics", where board-certified practitioners are on hand to treat a variety of common illnesses.
   
Fractured Atlas - An arts service organization that offers high-deductible comprehensive insurance plans to members throughout the United States. Providers in the Pittsburgh region are limited.
University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry - Accepts all patients; Fees are slightly lower than private practice for certain treatment and they do have payment plan options.

Healthcare Assistance Resources - These options exist to help those in financial need address medical needs and expenses.
   
  The Karis Group - Patient advocacy service works on behalf of patients to assist them resolve outstanding medical bills that exceed $25,000 that they are unable to pay. Helps clients secure funding and negotiate settlements and payment plans with providers.
   
  Patient Services Inc. - Assistance with health insurance premiums, pharmacy co-pays and waivers to persons with chronic illness
