The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments will announce new funding opportunities investing in professional artists at an information session on Thursday, November 17th at 5 p.m. at The Andy Warhol Museum on Pittsburgh's North Side. Germaine Williams, Program Officer, Arts and Education, The Pittsburgh Foundation; Janet Sarbaugh, Senior Program Director, Arts and Culture, The Heinz Endowments, and project consultant, Marilyn Coleman, Marilyn Coleman Consulting, will discuss the new program's evolution and goals, and answer questions about the application and peer panel review processes. The session is free and open to the arts community.

Professional artists and arts and cultural organizations based in the 10-county region including Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland Counties are eligible to apply. Artists may apply directly for grants of up to $10,000 to support their efforts to produce new works or improve artistic skills that will advance their careers. Grants may cover travel, equipment and supplies, and other relevant expenses. Arts and cultural institutions may apply for grants of up to $35,000 to support residencies at their location with local, national or international artists. The postmark deadline for proposals is January 23, 2012. Guidelines will be available at the information session and will be posted on the foundations' websites in early November.

In addition to these opportunities, the foundations also have plans to launch a new artist award program in early 2012. Two significant awards will recognize one established and one emerging artist selected through a rigorous nomination and review process.

Free parking available for this event on a first-come, first-served basis will be provided in the Museum parking lot located one black north of the Museum on Sandusky Street. (Additional public parking is available behind the Museum in the General Robinson Street garage at rates posted at the garage.)
