Manager of Grants & Professional Development

Prior to joining GPAC in January 2012, Michelle Lee worked as a grant writer and as the Director of Campus Engagement for Stanford Lively Arts where she oversaw the nationally acclaimed Pan Asian Music Festival and Public Theater New York at Stanford residencies. Her original programming, designed in conjunction with Stanford University's Arts Initiative, led to the attainment of one of eight nationwide Doris Duke Creative Campus Awards. Previously, she served as the Program Director for Seattle's Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas where she created the first National Black Science Fiction Festival and helped secure a Mayor's Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Community. She has also been an arts educator with AileyCamp at UC Berkeley's Cal Performances where she choreographed and taught maskmaking, and a live/work artist at the Djerassi Resident Artist Program where she assisted and worked alongside sculptor Patrick Dougherty, choreographer Rebecca Lazier, and many others.
A graduate of Princeton University and Yale School of Drama (MFA, Playwriting), Michelle is a writer and theater artist. She is serious about coffee, irreverent about politics, and exceedingly fond of puppets.
