Arts Council's new office has walls that need to
shout arts loud and clear, and there's no
better way to do that than to feature work created
by local and regional artists! |

Opportunity
Overview
|
| |
The
Arts Council will offer visual artists an opportunity
to display and sell their work in public areas
of our new office space. The
"Art on the Walls" program is a bi-annual,
solo exhibition opportunity for individual artists
in the greater Pittsburgh region. If you are interested
in participating, please complete a profile on
the Pittsburgh
Artist Registry and fill out the application
form below.

Eligibility |
| |
This
program is open to artists who work in two dimensional
formats including printmaking, photography, fiber,
painting and drawing. While we are unable to facilitate
the displaying of sculpture, lightweight sculptures
will be considered as long as they can be displayed
on the wall. Artwork must be appropriate for the
general public. |

Submission
Process |
|
Interested
artists will provide the Arts Council (via the Pittsburgh
Artist Registry), images of their existing work,
current bio and/or artist statement, resume and
corresponding price list including title, date,
materials and dimensions. Please note on your application
form which pieces you are submitting. The
1st deadline to apply is Tuesday, August 10th, 2010.
The selected artists will be notified by the end
of August. |

1.
Create a profile on the Pittsburgh
Artist Registry if your profile doesn't
already exist.
a)
Upload up to 10 images of existing artwork.
b) Each image should include the following
information: description of pieces, title,
date, materials, and dimensions.
c) Upload your resume, artist statement and/or
bio.
2.
Fill out the application
form below.
3. The 1st deadline to apply is Tuesday,
August 10th, 2010. The selected artists will
be notified by the end of August.

Selection
Process |
| |
The
applications will be reviewed by a selection panel
and two artists will be chosen for the 2010-2011
season. The exhibits will run approximately for
6 months from September to February and March to
August. The exhibit will be open to the public,
during normal business hours and may be open for
special events such as the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's
downtown Gallery Crawl. |

Installation
Process |
| |
The
Arts Council will give the artist drop off and pick
up dates and times. The artist is responsible for
dropping off and picking up their work in a timely
manner. All work must be ready to hang. The work
will be hung professionally and insured by the Arts
Council during the exhibition dates only, not during
shipping or transportation. The Arts Council can
not provide storage for your work, nor will the
Arts Council be responsible for work left behind.
If exhibiting artist would like to present new work,
different than the work submitted in this application,
they must first notify the Arts Council at least
4 weeks prior to installation date and present the
new work for review. The review does not guarantee
acceptance of the new work. |

Sales |
| |
All
sales will be handled by the Arts Council and will
be subject to a 15% commission fee. Proceeds will
support administration of this program and potentially
Artist
Opportunity Grants. Artist bio and price list
will be made available to the visiting public. When
a work sells, the exhibiting artist will receive
notice via email with the buyer's contact info.
The exhibiting artist will receive payment within
two weeks of the purchase. The buyer will be able
to pick up their purchased work only after the exhibit
closes. |

Wine
& Cheese |
| |
If
the exhibiting artist would like to have an opening
reception, the Arts Council can provide evening
access to the office; use of kitchen and tables;
promotions via its events
listing, website and other forms of social media;
however, all costs including promotional postcards
and refreshments will be the responsibility of the
artist. The exhibiting artist will be given necessary
information to schedule an opening reception. |
